CBD May Bulletin Highlights UN Decade on Biodiversity Celebrations, Workshops on NBSAPs

The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has published its Monthly Bulletin of Activities for May 2011, which includes reports, among others, on launches of the UN Decade on Biodiversity, and regional workshops on updating national biodiversity strategies and action plans (NBSAPs).

CBD22 June 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has published its Monthly Bulletin of Activities for May 2011, which includes reports, among others, on launches of the UN Decade on Biodiversity, and regional workshops on updating national biodiversity strategies and action plans (NBSAPs).

In May, regional launches of the UN Decade on Biodiversity in Asia were held in the Republic of Korea, India and the Philippines. Regional workshops on NBSAPs were held in Beirut, Lebanon; Xi’an, China; and Dakar, Senegal.

Furthermore, the Bulletin includes reports on: the 2011 International Biodiversity Day; the third expert meeting on South-South cooperation on biodiversity for development and the meeting of the Consortium of Scientific Partners on Biodiversity, held in Incheon, Republic of Korea; the expert meeting on capacity building for the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES); and the planning meeting for capacity building for implementation of the CBD programme of work on protected areas, held on the Isle of Vilm, Germany.
