CBD Launches Preparation of Global City and Biodiversity Outlook

The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and Stockholm University through the Stockholm Resilience Centre have begun preparations of the first Global City and Biodiversity Outlook.

The Outlook will present the status of biodiversity in urban areas highlighting best practices and lessons learned on urbanization and biodiversity.

CBD16 September 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and Stockholm University through the Stockholm Resilience Centre have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on the preparation of the first edition of the Global City and Biodiversity Outlook, to be submitted to the second Summit on Cities and Biodiversity.

The signature of the Memorandum was held in the context of the second meeting on the implementation of the plan of action on sub-national governments, cities and other local authorities on biodiversity, held from 4-6 September 2011, in Bonn, Germany. The City and Biodiversity Outlook will present the status of biodiversity in urban areas highlighting best practices and lessons learned on urbanization and biodiversity. Preparation of the Outlook was requested by the first Summit on Cities and Biodiversity, held in October 2010, in Nagoya, Japan.
