CBD Invites Nominations for NBSAP Workshop for Eastern Africa

The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), in collaboration with the Rwanda Environment Management Authority, is organizing a regional capacity-building workshop for the updating and revision of National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) for Eastern African countries, the countries in the region are invited to nominate representatives for participation.

9 May 2011: A regional capacity-building workshop for the updating and revision of National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) for Eastern African countries will be held from 27-30 June 2011, in Kigali, Rwanda. The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has invited nominations of government representatives for participation in the workshop.

The workshop is organized by the Secretariat of the CBD in collaboration with the Rwanda Environment Management Authority. It aims to: strengthen national capacities for the development, implementation, review, updating and communication of NBSAPs; help facilitate national implementation of the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020; and translate the Strategic Plan into national targets and commitments. Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mauritius, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, The Comoros and Uganda are invited to nominate two government representatives each for participation in the workshop, by 27 May 2011.
