CBD Announces TEMATEA Tool on Forest Biodiversity
story highlights

The TEMATEA Forest Biodiversity Module is a web-based tool to support the conservation and sustainable use of forest biodiversity, developed in response to a request by CBD COP 10.

20 May 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), in consultation with members of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF), has announced the launch of a web-based tool to support the conservation and sustainable use of forest biodiversity, based on the TEMATEA platform.

The official launch on 22 May 2011 was timed to coincide with International Day for Biological Diversity, which this year focuses on forest biodiversity. The TEMATEA Forest Biodiversity Module was developed for use by governments, civil society, international organizations and staff employed by multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs) related to forest issues.

The module was developed in response to a request by the 10th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 10) to the CBD. It aims to facilitate coordination and coherence in the implementation of forest-related obligations and commitments. [CBD Notification] [TEMATEA Forest Biodiversity Module]
