Caribbean Water Insight Reports on Rainwater Harvesting, Gender and Sanitation

The Global Water Partnership Caribbean has released a new issue of the Caribbean Water Insight newsletter, with stories highlighting cases of integrated water resources management (IWRM) practices in Suriname, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, and Grenada.

It also highlights upcoming events, including Inter-American Water Day on 6 October 2012.

August 2012: The August issue of the Global Water Partnership Caribbean (GWP-C) newsletter includes stories on smallholder agricultural water management (AWM), rainwater harvesting (RWH), gender and sanitation, water supply improvement projects, youth involvement in water management, and integrated water resources management (IWRM) and disaster resilience.

The “Caribbean Water Insight” newsletter features articles on: innovative agriculture as a profitable and sustainable business in Trinidad and Tobago; RWH encouraging sustainability in rural communities in Trinidad and Tobago; a US$12.3 million water supply rehabilitation programme to improve quality of life in Guyana; youth from Barbados and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines speaking on water at the World Youth Parliament for Water; GWP’s IWRM ToolBox, as academically valuable and real-world practical; water resources management and the St. Patrick’s Disaster in Grenada; and women, water, sanitation and hygiene in Suriname.

The newsletter also reports on the ceremony of GWP-C’s first Media Awards on Water, notes publication of the GWP-C 2011 Annual Report, highlights upcoming events including Inter-American Water Day on 6 October 2012, and identifies recipients of three international water law scholarships.
