Brunei Darussalam Accepts Doha Amendment

The UNFCCC Secretariat has announced that Brunei Darussalam has accepted the Doha Amendment, which formalizes commitments for the second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol (2013-2020).

Brunei Darussalam Flag16 November 2014: The UNFCCC Secretariat has announced that Brunei Darussalam has accepted the Doha Amendment, which formalizes commitments for the second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol (2013-2020). This announcement brings the total number of parties that have deposited their instruments of acceptance to 19.

By depositing its instrument of acceptance to the Depositary on 14 November 2014, Brunei Darussalam joins Bangladesh, Barbados, China, Djibouti, the Federated States of Micronesia, Honduras, Indonesia, Kenya, Mauritius, Mexico, Monaco, Morocco, Norway, Peru, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Sudan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), all of whom have ratified the Amendment.

The Doha Amendment to the Kyoto Protocol was adopted by decision 1/CMP.8 at the eighth session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP 8), which took place in Doha, Qatar, from 26 November to 8 December 2012.
