14 August 2010: A bilateral meeting between Brazil’s Minister of External Relations and New Zealand’s Minister of Foreign Affairs was held on 13-14 August 2010, in São Paulo, Brazil, to discuss, inter alia, climate change cooperation.

According to the resulting joint ministerial statement, the Ministers had “useful exchanges” on the international climate change negotiations and noted that they will liaise closely to identify common ground in the lead-up to and after the UNFCCC Climate Change Conference to be held in Cancun, Mexico, in late 2010. New Zealand also encouraged Brazil to join the Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases (GHG) as a full member – Brazil currently participates as an observer to the work of the Alliance.
