Bioversity International to Run Training Course on Preservation of Plant Genetic Resources
story highlights

In an effort to build capacity in the conservation of the thousands of species with difficult-to-store seeds or challenging clonal propagation, up to fifteen scientists will be trained in tissue culture, cryopreservation and in vitro conservation of crops, as well as in molecular techniques and protocols for conservation of plant seeds and tissues through a course at the Indian National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR).

The course will run from 17-28 February 2014, at NBPGR, a Centre of Excellence with Bioversity International. The course is designed for those currently involved in the use of in vitro or cryopreservation techniques of vegetatively propagated and non-orthodox seed species. Registration for the course must be completed by 25 January 2014. Bioversity International is a member of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).
