1 March 2013: Over the past 40 years, Bioversity International has gathered information on cultivated plants and wild relatives from around the world, resulting in over 200,000 samples, which are now available online in the Collecting Missions Database. Over recent decades, Bioversity International has supported over 500 collecting expeditions to systematically collect and conserve traditional varieties and landraces cultivated by farmers. The new database allows individuals to access original field records and search by species, country, collector or mission title. The database is meant to facilitate increased use of this global trove of samples.

Bioversity is a member of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). [Bioversity International Collecting Mission Database]
