Beyond 201511 February 2013: The Beyond 2015 campaign has published a monthly update for January 2013. The update highlights three areas of work on the post-2015 framework: national consultations; consensus building; and an upcoming Civil Society Organization (CSO) conference.

The Beyond 2015 campaign is collaborating with the Global Call to Action against Poverty (GCAP) and the International Forum of NGO Platforms to develop a civil society position on the post-2015 framework through national-level discussions and advocacy work. Beyond 2015 and GCAP have established national hubs in Africa (12 hubs), Asia (10 hubs) and Latin America (7 hubs) to convene these deliberations.

To build consensus on content for the post-2015 framework, the campaign organized a writing workshop in Geneva, Switzerland, to define its content strategy and draft position papers. The content strategy is organized around four conceptual foundations: criteria; purpose; values; and vision, each of which will have a space for input on the campaign’s website. The content strategy document identifies three advocacy windows for the campaign: the UN High-level Panel on the Post-2015 Development Agenda (HLP) report in May 2013; a UN Special Event in September 2013; and the UN General Assembly’s (UNGA) Open Working Group (OWG) on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The CSO Conference will convene under the theme, “Advancing the Post-2015 Sustainable Development Agenda,” in Bonn, Germany, from 20-22 March 2013. The Conference Steering Committee has selected 170 participants (85 from the global north and 85 from the global south) to participate in the conference, which aims to promote discussion and build CSO alliances on the post-2015 agenda.

The update also highlights: the UN’s 11 global thematic consultations; the HLP meeting in Monrovia, Liberia, including CSO preparatory meetings; the establishment of the OWG; and the initial results from the MY World citizen survey on priorities for the post-2015 agenda.
