February 2013: The Basel Secretariat has released a glossary of terms, for comment and guidance. The glossary aims to provide legal clarity, and is part of efforts to follow up on the country-led initiative of Indonesia and Switzerland to improve the effectiveness of the Basel Convention. Comments are invited from Convention Parties and others, and should be submitted by 15 April.

The glossary was prepared by a small intersessional working group, which was also mandated to recommend where further guidance would be useful, as well as to provide possible options for further steps towards the consistent interpretation of terminology. [Publication: First Draft Glossary of Terms]
