Basel Convention Mesoamerican Center Offers E-waste Management Tools Online

A new toolbox from the Basel Convention Regional Centre for Central America and Mexico (BCRC-CAM) provides information and training materials for the environmentally responsible management of electronic wastes (e-waste).

It includes diagnoses of the e-waste situation in 25 countries, as well as certification standards, analysis of relevant laws and policies, and access to digital libraries on material related to e-waste.

3 February 2012: The Basel Convention Regional Centre for Central America and Mexico (BCRC-CAM) has launched an online, bilingual toolbox for environmentally responsible management of electronic wastes (e-waste).

The toolbox includes information and training materials, including diagnoses of the e-waste situation in 25 countries, technical and policy guidelines, certification standards, analysis of laws and related policies, awareness materials and access to digital libraries on material related to e-waste.

The toolbox was developed by the Partnership for Action on Computing Equipment (PACE), an initiative formed in 2008 by the Basel Convention and its regional centers, governments, international agencies, industry associations and individual companies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and academic institutions.

BCRC-CAM, located within the headquarters of the Central American Commission on Environment and Development (CCAD) in San Salvador, El Salvador, is one of the Basel Convention’s 14 regional centers.
