28 June 2011: Business Action for Sustainable Development (BASD) 2012, a network of business organizations with an interest in sustainable development, has appointed a new chair to lead its efforts to strengthen the voice of the sustainable development business community at the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).

S. Gopalakrishnan, CEO and Managing Director of Infosys, a global consulting and technology services company based in Bangalore, India, and Vice President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), will coordinate BASD member activities in preparation for the UNCSD and officially represent BASD in negotiations leading to the Conference. BASD 2012 is a joint initiative of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and the UN Global Compact.
