The Third Workshop on Enhancing the Regional Distribution of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Projects in Asia and the Pacific aimed at building the capacity of CDM stakeholders in the region to develop CDM projects.
The workshop also included a session on financing of projects, as well as sessions addressing issues relating to specific kinds of projects, such as waste management, energy efficiency, transport and renewable energy projects.
20 July 2012: The Third Workshop on Enhancing the Regional Distribution of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Projects in Asia and the Pacific focused on the issues of standardized baselines and the CDM Programme of Activities (PoA), with the aim of promoting more CDM projects in the Least Developed Countries (LDCs), small island developing States (SIDS) and countries hosting fewer than ten registered projects.
The workshop, which was held from 18-20 July 2012, in Manila, the Philippines, was jointly organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat, in partnership with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Risoe Centre. It aimed at building the capacity of CDM stakeholders in the region to develop CDM projects and included presentations and discussion on CDM issues, hands-on exercises covering five PoA methodologies, and group work for project formulation.
