ASEAN, Republic of Korea Sign Asian Forest Cooperation Agreement

The partnership among ASEAN member states and the Republic of Korea will seek to promote sustainable forest management in Southeast Asia.

It was developed in response to the ROK's vision for "Low Carbon Green Growth," and aims enhance the capacity of ASEAN States to ensure the contribution of the forestry sector to sustainable development.

18 November 2011: The Republic of Korea (ROK) and member States of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) signed a Asian Forest Cooperation (AFoCO) Agreement during the 14th ASEAN-ROK Summit, on 18 November 2011, in Bali, Indonesia.The partnership was developed in response to the ROK’s vision for “Low Carbon Green Growth.” It aims to enhance the capacity of ASEAN States to ensure the contribution of the forestry sector to sustainable development.
