The African Regional Consultation of the Consultative Process Towards an International Mechanism of Scientific Expertise on Biodiversity (IMoSEB) brought together over 90 experts in the second of a series of regional meetings for the IMoSEB process.

Participants at the consultation, which convened from 1-3 March 2007, in Yaoundé, Cameroon, heard presentations, exchanged views and discussed needs identified and various options on a possible IMoSEB. They considered expertise for Africa and potential users of an IMoSEB; discussed institutional and financial aspects of an IMoSEB; reached general consensus on the need for an IMoSEB; and identified an interest in exploring a pilot project for the African region.
