AfDB22 February 2012: The African Carbon Support Programme (ACSP) held a seminar for the African Development Bank (AfDB) staff, outlining the outcomes of the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), held in Durban, South Africa, in 2011.

Held on 12 January 2012, the seminar provided an opportunity to assess how the AfDB’s current and planned climate change initiatives may be affected by the COP 17 outcomes. Participants heard presentations on: the carbon market; negotiations towards a new international climate agreement; the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) in Africa; and scaling up carbon finance. Participants were encouraged to take advantage of ACSP technical assistance in developing the CDM component of their projects, to benefit from additional revenue streams from carbon credits sale.
