AfDB, AusAID Support Water and Sanitation Supply in Southern Malawi

A project to improve the water supply and sanitation, supported by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the African Development Fund (ADF) and the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Initiative (RWSSI), as well as co-financing from the Australian Government Overseas Aid Program (AusAid), was launched in Malosa, Malawi.

afdb-ausaid23 April 2013: A project to improve the water supply and sanitation, supported by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the African Development Fund (ADF) and the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Initiative (RWSSI), as well as with co-financing from the Australian Government Overseas Aid Program (AusAid), was launched in Malosa, Malawi.

With US$64.17 million from AfDB and supporting institutions and funds, as well as US$14 million from AusAID, the project will serve seven market centres in the Malosa area, in Southern Malawi. It is expected to catalyze growth in other key sectors, such as energy and transport, and will contribute to achieving the targets set out in Malawi’s Economic Recovery Plan. [AfDB Press Release]
