The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will support efforts by Uzbekistan to establish a solar energy institute to spur education and innovation in the solar energy field.
16 February 2012: The Asian Development Bank (ABD) has announced that it is working with Uzbekistan to establish a new solar energy research institute.
The International Solar Energy Institute (ISEI) is being developed in the hopes of becoming an innovative global solar energy education center and solar technology exporter. It is designed to be an international knowledge hub, focusing on training and technology. The effort is part of the larger goal of the ADB’s Asia Solar Energy Initiative to commission 3,000 MW of solar power generation capacity in developing Asian countries by 2013. [ADB Press Release]
