ADB, Australia Address Renewable Energy Under Pacific Aid Coordination Project

The Asian Development Bank (ADB), supported by the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), has approved the implementation of US$2.06 million in technical assistance to the Pacific region.

ADB will address water supply, renewable energy and energy policy, among other issues, in its operations in the Cook Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Vanuatu.

3 June 2012: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) announced its approval of a US$2.06 million regional technical assistance project, supported by a grant from the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), to boost aid coordination in the Pacific by expanding the Bank’s regional field presence.

ADB’s role in the region includes supporting infrastructure planning and services; water supply; renewable energy and energy policy; public financial management; and public sector reform. Under the project, ADB will continue to operate its existing Development Coordination Offices in Solomon Islands, Tonga and Vanuatu, and will establish similar offices in the Cook Islands and the Federated States of Micronesia.

ADB will be the executing agency for the project, which will be implemented over two years. [ADB Press Release]
