30 March 2012: The Asian Development Bank’s Energy for All initiative has announced that its pioneering Renewable Energy Village has been “switched on.”

The initiative, in partnership with the Government of Nepal and the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre, is working to provide renewable energy to villages of Nepal’s national electricity grid. The initiative has provided power to 46 homes in the village through small windmills and solar PV resources. The project is also providing solar cookers, biogas and solar dryers.
