ACP Secretary-General Announced as Patron of Climate 2012

Climate 2012, an online scientific climate conference convening in November 2012, will have the Secretary General of African Caribbean Pacific (ACP) Group of States, Mohamed Ibn Chambas, as Patron.

Chambas stressed that targeting SIDS is essential as “most, if not all, are vulnerable to the negative impact of climate change.”

30 April 2012: Climate 2012, an online scientific climate conference convening in November 2012, has announced that the Secretary General of the African Caribbean Pacific (ACP) Group of States, Mohamed Ibn Chambas, is Patron of the event.

According to Chambas, Climate 2012 (also known as Klima 2012) will allow participants “to access latest knowledge, discuss and interact with experts and fellow participants from developing and developed nations” on climate change, sustainable technologies and small island developing States (SIDS).

Chambas highlighted links with the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), and stressed that targeting SIDS is essential as “most, if not all, are vulnerable to the negative impact of climate change.” [Climate 2012 Website]
