3gf22 October 2014: The Fourth Global Green Growth Forum (3GF 2014) focused on the transformative actions required to promote sustainable consumption and production (SCP) for a greener economy. The Forum, held on 20-21 October 2014, in Copenhagen, Denmark, resulted in the launch or leveraging of 11 collaborative partnerships on waste, green energy solutions, sustainable production, and other issues.

3GF 2014 took up the theme ‘Changing Production and Consumption Patterns through Transformative Action,’ and explored three key questions: how should we live our lives; where will we live; and what will we live from? Major topics of consideration included: sustainable consumption for future consumers; transformations to more sustainable production; future pathways of urban development; more sustainable financial systems; and transformation of the food and energy sectors.

The Forum also included: the Partnership Ideas Lab, which focused on advancing a range of green growth topics and laying the foundation for new collaborations; a 3GF stocktaking session, which identified success factors for partnerships previously launched or leveraged through the 3GF; learning sessions, which facilitated cross-country sharing and comparison of experiences; and in-conversation sessions, which addressed transformation pathways in green economy politics, city development and design of energy efficient products.

The insights and conclusions from 3GF 2014 are intended to serve as input to discussions on the post-2015 development agenda, negotiations for a 2015 climate change agreement, and other high-level international deliberations and forums on SCP, resource efficiency and green growth.
