The UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) is hosting a moderated online discussion on the theme ‘Youth and Innovation in Africa: Harnessing the possibilities of Africa's youth for the transformation of the continent'. The e-discussion aims to consider how innovation and technology can stem youth unemployment rates and advance Africa's development agenda. Questions will focus on how science and technology innovations can foster economic growth, including through removing barriers, increasing skill acquisition and increasing youth employability. The e-discussion is expected to result in a synthesis paper that will feed into UNECA and the Government of Nigeria's High Level Policy Dialogue on ‘Science, Technologies and Innovation and the African Transformation Agenda,' which will take place from 24-25 March 2014, in Abuja, Nigeria.
