The topic of the 13th Annual BIOECON Conference is “Resource Economics, Biodiversity Conservation and Development.” It is hosted by the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID) in Geneva, Switzerland, and supported by the founding partners of the BioEcon Network: the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Conservation International, Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM) and the IHEID. The conference will include sessions on: plant genetic resources and food security issues, deforestation and development, fisheries and institutional adaptation, development and conservation, wildlife conservation and park pricing, international trade and regulation, most other issues dealing with living resources, developing country issues, and issues dealing with economics and institutions dealing with biodiversity. The conference will also include a policy forum chaired by the Institutional Partners of BIOECON, on the issue of the creation of international mechanisms for financing the conservation of biological diversity.
