The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS)+20 Forum High-level Event 2025 will bring together stakeholders to take stock of achievements and key challenges, opportunities, and trends since the Geneva Plan of Action in 2003. The 2025 event will serve as a platform for discussion of the WSIS+20 review and the WSIS Action Lines.
Twenty years ago, the WSIS set the framework for global digital cooperation with a vision of building inclusive, development-oriented information and knowledge societies. Since then, the annual WSIS Forum has served as a global multi-stakeholder platform facilitating the implementation of the WSIS Action Lines for advancing sustainable development.
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the UN Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the UN Development Programme (UNDP), and the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) will co-organize the High-level Event, which is co-hosted by ITU and Switzerland.
The event will also launch the 2025 WSIS Prizes Contest, to recognize outstanding projects that harness the power of ICTs to advance sustainable development, and the WSIS Forum Photo Contest 2025, to capture and share how ICTs drive sustainable development across the globe, including innovations in education, health, environment, and more.
