World Pulses Day 2023

World Pulses Day is celebrated annually to recognize the importance of pulses as a global food.

On 20 December 2013, the UN General Assembly (UNGA) proclaimed 2016 as the International Year of Pulses. The celebration of the year increased public awareness of the nutritional and environmental benefits of pulses as part of sustainable food production. In 2019, the UNGA designated 10 February as World Pulses Day.

For World Pulses Day 2023, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) will organize a special event on pulses for a sustainable future, which will highlight the contribution of pulses to improving soil productivity and increasing the resilience of farming systems, as pulses provide a better life for farmers in water-scarce environments.
