The World Bank Land Conference 2025 will focus on the theme, ‘Securing Land Tenure and Access for Climate Action’. The event will showcase policy-relevant research and encourage cross-sectoral knowledge exchange and dialogue.

The World Bank has organized the Land Conference for over 20 years, with the aim of bringing together governments, development partners, civil society, academia, and the private sector to discuss technical issues and sector good practice. The Conference has incubated numerous investments and initiatives, led by diverse stakeholders, including the Stand for Her Land Campaign, the Land Governance Assessment Framework, and the Voluntary Guidelines.

The 2025 theme underscores the crucial role of improving land governance and securing property rights to reverse the erosion of poverty reduction, human development, and economic growth since 2020. The Conference will also discuss the role of land governance and land tenure in achieving climate action, including how to scale up financing to strengthen land administration and secure land rights to advance climate adaptation and mitigation. The 2025 Conference will build on 2024 discussions on the relevance of the land sector to climate change to emphasize the role of action and effective strategies for land tenure and access in support of climate action.
