Workshop on Self-Consumption of Renewables: The Role of Storage in Revolutionising Grid Infrastructure

This workshop, organized by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), will examine ways for battery storage technologies to transform grid infrastructure and support on-site renewable electricity generation by consumers. The event will also seek to identify best practices, regulatory challenges and lessons to be highlighted in a forthcoming IRENA technology roadmap for electricity storage. The workshop will have a maximum number of 30 participants, comprising policymakers, industry representatives and academics, among others, who will also receive complimentary access to the 'Energy Storage Summit' held on 6 November, in Tokyo, Japan. The event is part of a series of workshops, the first one of which, titled 'International Energy Storage Policy and Regulation,' was organized on 27 March in Düsseldorf, Germany. The third workshop in the series, on 'Supporting Small- and Large-scale Deployment of Renewables through Electricity Storage,' will take place on 3 December in New Delhi, India.
