This workshop, co-hosted by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT), will be organized alongside the World Urban Forum. The workshop will identify priority areas in terms of technologies and policies for the accelerated deployment of renewable energy in growing African cities, and discuss translating them into concrete action items that are relevant to different stakeholders. The workshop is part of a larger series of workshops in the context of IRENA’s Technology Roadmap for Renewables in Cities, which aims to guide IRENA members in identifying opportunities and barriers regarding the use and deployment of renewable energy in cities.
