This expert consultation is co-organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), the Global Mechanism (GM) of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) and the Korea Forest Service. The aim of the workshop is to provide inputs and perspectives for a FAO/GM discussion paper on sustainable financing for forest and landscape restoration (F&LR) initiatives, and inform the development of future policy briefs and capacity building activities on this topic. The discussions will cover, among other issues: different funding sources and instruments for (F&LR); how to address barriers to F&LR investments; case studies highlighting direct and indirect benefits for private sector investors in F&LR; and lessons and good practices for inclusion in a position paper on private sector investments in F&LR.
