This workshop will assist countries from the Middle East and Central Asia region in applying integrated systems-level approaches for envisioning, planning, implementation and monitoring national development plans and strategies for achieving the proposed Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The workshop will include presentations and guidance on tailoring the SDGs to national contexts, a special session on UAE National Strategic Planning, sessions exploring existing practices and opportunities for mainstreaming the SDGs into national development strategies and plans, a scenario exercise on national planning for sustainable development, and a special session on perspectives from other regions, which will present national development planning practices in Malaysia. The UN Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD) is organizing this workshop with the Islamic Development Bank Group, the Ministry for Finance, United Arab Emirates, the Sustainable Development Planning Network and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD).
