Organized by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), this workshop intends to support representatives of the network of laboratories created to facilitate the identification of living modified organisms (LMOs) under the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety. The workshop aims to develop an implementation strategy to guide and assist Parties in reaching the outcomes of the Protocol's Strategic Plan that are relevant to the detection and identification of LMOs, and draft a set of recommendations for consideration by the Conference of the Parties serving as Meeting of the Parties of the Protocol (COP-MOP) at its seventh meeting to be held in October 2014.
