The Sixteenth Session of the Working Party on the Management of Wildlife and Protected Areas of the African Forestry and Wildlife Commission will be held from 27 to 28 March 2006, and will be followed by the Fifteenth Session of the African Forestry and Wildlife Commission from 29 March – 1 April 2006. This session will examine forestry activities of interest to the region, including the ones performed by FAO, the follow-up to the recommendations of last session, and relevant activities that have taken place in the international arena. A special session on implementation of Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) in Africa also will be organized, including topics such as accessing funds for sustainable forest management, progress towards sustainable forest management, achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) through regional cooperation, and forest law compliance.”
