UNSC 55 Side Event & Open IAEG-SDGs Virtual Meeting

The side event themed, ‘Insights from SDG Monitoring: Lessons Learned, Linkages with Well-being Discussion, and 2025 Comprehensive Review,’ will focus on key aspects of SDG monitoring and how to transform SDG data into actionable information. The event will convene on the sidelines of the 55th session of the UN Statistical Commission (UNSC).

The event will reflect on lessons learned from the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and SDGs on measurement and monitoring, with a focus on how these lessons can inform future development monitoring frameworks and ensure a more comprehensive and impactful approach to address global challenges. The event will also discuss the relevance of the SDG monitoring framework in the context of well-being measurements and beyond gross domestic product (GDP) considerations.

In preparation for the UNSC’s comprehensive review of the global indicator framework at its 56th session, the side event will also share details about the 2025 Comprehensive Review process, including the timeline, specific criteria, and submission requirements.
