The Global Network on Energy for Sustainable Development (GNESD) and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) will host a workshop titled “Energy Access” during the 2012 Domestic Use of Energy Conference (DUE). Participants are expected to explore several themes, including on: research priorities for the 2012 Year of Sustainable Energy for All; modern energy services for the last 20% in South Africa; energy access in Latin America; the opportunities and barriers regarding widening energy access in Africa; energy access as an opportunity for job creation and poverty alleviation; and modernization of wood fuel in Africa.
