“Engaging with Major Groups and Stakeholders on Rio+20: The Role of Civil Society in Shaping the Sustainable Development Agenda for the 21st Century” is the theme for a global consultation on the UN Conference for Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) to be organized by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP). The global consultation will take place on 1 September. UNEP also is organizing a Regional Consultation Meeting (RCM) for Europe on 2 September. The two events directly precede the 64th Annual Conference of NGOs. The consultation events are held in preparation for the Global Major Groups and Stakeholder Forum and the 13th Special Session of the Governing Council/Global Ministerial Environment Forum (GC/GMEF) and the UNCSD. Interested representatives of Major Groups and Stakeholders are invited to register by 24 July 2011.
