UNECE Compliance Committee Meeting under the Aarhus Convention – 54th Meeting

The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Compliance Committee: examines compliance issues and makes recommendations; prepares reports on compliance with or implementation of the provisions of the Aarhus Convention at the request of the Meeting of the Parties; and monitors, assesses and facilitates the implementation of and compliance with the reporting requirements of the Convention. The UNECE Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters (Aarhus Convention) was adopted on 25 June 1998. It grants public rights and imposes obligations on parties and public authorities regarding access to information and public participation and access to justice, and supports public participation in the negotiation and implementation of international agreements.
