UNCTAD Expert Group Meeting: Addressing the Vulnerabilities of SIDS More Effectively

Co-organized by the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC), this meeting will contribute to enriching the international debate on possible steps and measures, within and outside the UN system, to support the resilience-building efforts of small island developing States (SIDS) more effectively. The meeting will address three principal questions: whether vulnerability is an obstacle to structural progress for SIDS; whether special international support measures for SIDS can make resilience-building efforts more effective; and what steps the UN system could take to address vulnerability more effectively.
