This meeting will mark the official launch of the UN Forum on Sustainability Standards (UNFSS). Held under the theme “Policy Making and Sustainability Standards: How can governments and private sector work together to achieve sustainable development goals?” the meeting will provide an opportunity for various stakeholders to exchange views and experiences on voluntary sustainability standards (VSS) and discuss development of proactive strategies to use VSS as tools for sustainable development. A joint initiative by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the International Trade Centre (ITC), the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), and the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the UNFSS will provide a platform for international dialogue on VSS.
