UN Briefing on Progress in the Implementation of the Objectives of the Convention on Biological Diversity

The UN General Assembly, via resolution 67/212 , adopted in December 2012, decided that one of the special events of the Second Committee, in the 68th session of the UN General Assembly, would be devoted to a joint briefing by UN Environment Programme (UNEP), World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), UN Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), on the implementation of the objectives of the CBD, including actions undertaken to promote access to genetic resources and the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from their utilization and associated traditional knowledge. This event, titled 'Briefing on progress in the implementation of the objectives of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, as part of the UN Decade of Biodiversity, and to further efforts to improve coherence,' will be held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly Second Committee meetings on 30 October 2013.
