Towards a Global Pact for the Environment: Third Substantive Session

An ad hoc open‑ended working group to consider a technical and evidence-based report that identifies and assesses possible gaps in international environmental law and environment-related instruments with a view to strengthening their implementation was established by UN General Assembly (UNGA) resolution 72/272 of 10 May 2018. The group is co-chaired by the Permanent Representatives of Portugal and Lebanon to the UN.

The Group is expected to hold its third substantive session in Nairobi, Kenya, beginning on 20 May 2019, for 3-5 days.

The first substantive session took place from 14-18 January 2019, in Nairobi, Kenya. The second session was set for 18-20 March, also in Nairobi.
