9-11 April 2014 Costa Rica
Towards a CMS Programme of Work on Climate Change

This workshop will be convened by the Convention on Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) Conference of the Parties (COP) appointed Councilor for Climate Change, Colin Galbraith, in collaboration with the CMS Secretariat and Costa Rica's Ministry of Environment, Energy and Telecommunications (MINAET), and with the support of Germany and Monaco. The goal of the workshop, pursuant to CMS COP Resolution 10.19, is to prepare a CMS Programme of Work on climate change and migratory species, through opportunities to share experiences and best practices, with regards to the impact of climate change on migratory species. The workshop will also assist Parties in developing national guidelines on measures to assist migratory species to adapt to climate change. The results of the workshop will be delivered to the Scientific Council and the eleventh meeting of the CMS COP (CMS COP11), as well as to the relevant bodies of other institutions including the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). National Focal Points (NFPs) are invited to nominate an expert on climate change to participate in this workshop, by 1 March 2014.
