Third Sanitation Dialogue: 11th Hour to MDGs 2015

The event titled 'Third Sanitation Dialogue: 11th Hour to MDGs 2015' will promote a comprehensive approach to sanitation among the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and its developing member countries (DMCs). The dialogue aims to raise awareness and capacity of DMCs on sustainable sanitation through discussion of elements of successful projects, such as an enabling policy environment, technology and financing options and planning and project preparation tools. It also aims to enhance DMCs' preparedness to conceptualize, plan and implement sanitation strategies and projects that increase access to sanitation and promote effective wastewater management. Discussion topics will include: adoption of appropriate technology options; promoting innovative contracts and incentives; addressing policy gaps; dealing with financing, viability and affordability issues; and demonstrating health, socioeconomic and environmental benefits. The event is part of ADB and DMC efforts to meet the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) target of halving the number of people without access to improved sanitation.
