Sixth Global Meeting of the Farmers’ Forum

The sixth global meeting of the Farmers' Forum, marking the Forum's 10th anniversary, will set the stage for revisiting the Forum's objective and modalities within the context the relationships between smallholder, family farmers and development actors, taking into account the International Fund for Agricultural Development's (IFAD) new strategic framework and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It will also review progress this partnership has made. The Forum will be preceded by a special session on pastoralism on 12 February and followed by side events on 18 February. It will also share its messages with IFAD's Governing Council, which will meet from 17-18 February. The Farmers' Forum, established in 2005, is a bottom-up process of consultation and dialogue between smallholder farmers' and rural producers' organizations, IFAD and IFAD member States. The Forum, which aims to strengthen effective partnerships and collaborations between IFAD and farmers' organizations in country programmes and investment projects, meets every two years in conjunction with IFAD's Governing Council.
