The Sixth Global Conference on Strengthening Synergies between the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (Sixth Global Climate and SDG Synergy Conference) will explore strategies and actionable pathways for accelerating the synergistic implementation of climate action and sustainable development and driving transformative solutions for a more sustainable future. The event will build on key recommendations from the Fifth Global Climate and SDG Synergy Conference and the Expert Group on Climate and SDG Synergy.

The UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) and the UNFCCC Secretariat will convene the event, which is hosted by the Government of Denmark. The event will bring together representatives of UN Member States, UN agencies, civil society, the private sector, and other stakeholders to assess progress made on a set of key recommendations from the previous global conferences. The Conference will focus on six key themes:

  • Integrated policy approaches, including aligning climate action with national development strategies;
  • Finance and investment to bridge climate and SDG funding gaps;
  • Innovation and technology;
  • Country-led strategies, case studies, and best practices for synergistic action;
  • Multi-stakeholder partnerships and strengthening cooperation; and
  • Global milestones to inform discussions ahead of the 2025 UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP 30), the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), and the next round of nationally determined contributions (NDCs).

The Conference will result in a summary with a set of recommendations for enhancing synergistic implementation of the SDGs and climate action at both political and practical levels and a set of empirical evidence on the co-benefits of the SDGs and climate action, including how Member States are delivering jointly on these two agendas.
