The Chinese Academy of Sciences, China Association for Science and Technology, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) and international scientific partners will jointly host the International Conference on Silk-roads Disaster Risk Reduction and Sustainable Development (SiDRR Conference 2019) on the theme, ‘Towards Safe, Green, and Resilient Silk Roads’.

Topics under discussion include: hazard information detection and data sharing; mechanisms and physical process; risk analysis and management; monitoring and early warning; disaster prevention and mitigation; emergency management and post-disaster reconstruction; cross-border disasters; and sustainable development.

The Conference is part of an international research programme for DRR along the Silk Roads, implemented under the umbrella of SiDRR (Silk-roads Disaster Risk Reduction) by the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
