The Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) is an initiative of the Government of Japan. The first conference took place in 1993.

TICAD7 will focus on the theme, ‘Africa and Yokohama, Sharing Passion for the Future’. It is co-hosted by the UN, UN Development Programme (UNDP), World Bank and African Union Commission (AUC).
