Organized by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), this meeting will consider two standing items: update on ongoing and planned biosafety capacity-building projects/initiatives; and the progress report on implementation of the recommendations of previous coordination meetings and relevant decisions of the meeting of the Parties to the Protocol. The meeting also will address the following items for in-depth consideration: capacity-building for enforcement of national biosafety regulatory frameworks; consideration of capacity-building needs and initiatives relating to the implementation of the Nagoya-Kuala Lumpur Supplementary Protocol on Liability and Redress; and update and views on the process for the next comprehensive review of the Action Plan for Building Capacities for the Effective Implementation of the Protocol and the Coordination Mechanism.
