Seminar on Enhancing the Effectiveness of Food Security Information Systems in the SADC Sub-region

This seminar is being held to facilitate food security planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region through the collection, organization, management, analysis and dissemination of food security data. It aims to: assess national and sub-regional food security information systems (FSIS) efficiency; assess and harmonize approaches to strengthen links between food security information, market information, early warning systems and the development of response strategies; identify key capacity building needs at the sub-regional and national levels; promote food market transparency; and identify methodological, institutional, technological and political issues to consider in defining strategies that improve the technical quality and the scope of the analysis provided by the FSIS.
